Dooze Jackers est un duo installé à Montréal. Ils nous gratifient d’un set explosif, révélateur de l’énergie qui animent leurs soirées. Interview !
Hi, can you introduce Dooze Jackers ?
Dooze Jackers: “Hey what’s up friend! First of all, Dooze Jackers is formed by Techjio and DPV . We met through our “famous” blog Le Mothership. Everything starts there: the party, the girls and the music. In the beginning, we did small parties called Mothership party with our good friends BSBTRGDCLUB and TWO MAN ARMY and we both mixed at those parties under our individual dj names: DPV and Techjio. After a few parties, we began listening to music together, especially dutch music. After seeing our common interest, we thought about forming a music group: Dooze Jackers. Techjio, as a Haitian and me, as a Mexican, we both love percussions and rhythm tracks. We had the same ideas of tracks and sound, so the match was perfect. After the blog Le Mothership stopped working, we began organising parties with some other great friends of ours, DJs of Montreal such as Nujax, Madkids, etc. With the nice crowds that Montreal has, we continued to launch parties and they became bigger and bigger. It’s been about 3 or 4 months that Techjio and I are making music together and grooving around parties in Montreal under the name Dooze Jackers.”
How long have you been producing club music ?
Techjio, known for his great and big productions that he did in the past 2 years, got a great background with the programs and software and he knows more than me (DPV) about producing music. In my case, I am mostly known for my DJ work in Montreal. That’s why Jackson and I complete each other, one mixes and the other produces. For the production, Jackson (Techjio) begins a track, then shows me his work and after a few hot-dogs and beers, we’ve got something to work with. And that’s how our first track “We Love Moogie” came to life.
What’s your favorite drink ?
DPV : Gimme a 40 onz of Jack Daniels and I’ll be the happiest person in the world!
Jackson: Gimme another bottle of the JD !
We love to know about the gear of the producers, what’s your setup (software, hardware) in the studio ? your live setup ?
We’ve got a Midi pad controller to create some drum rhythms that we wouldn’t be able to do with a simple computer mouse. We’ve got a keyboard and our favourite friend, the software “Reason”. Take all of this mixed with some tropical sounds and mexican drums and that’s how we create tracks in our homemade studio.
For our shows, we simply have our great Mac computers with a Hercules RMX controller. On top of that, we’ve got some spectacular dance moves (Jackson is the best in that) and 2 crazy guys that look like monkeys. That’s how we get the party started!
What are your musical influences in club music/non-club music ?
We get a lot of influences from Douster. His sound, his drums, his synth…basically his entire music is so nice that it inspired us to create our own tracks. There’s also Rolvario, Alvaro, Afro Bros, Blood Shake, French Fries, Brodinksi, Afrojack, Momma’s boys… they all have an influence on us from their sounds, their drum or simply by their great songs they did that help us make some dutch, banger music. On the other hand, we also love, like everybody else, Bloody Beetroots, Diplo, Major Lazer and other bands and DJs of this genre that make our hearts and heads go insane.
Any message ?
Dooze Jackers love you all !!
